| Paul has had double lives in porn. He was a top star in the 70's and 80's, making a reputation for 1-on-1 scenes and dramatic thrillers. When he got out of video himself, he didnt go far, he just stepped behind the camera. Quite simply, Paul Thomas was an icon of his time. Paul was born in Winnetka, Illinois in 1951, into a wealthy family. He went to the University of Wisconsin at Madison and studied political science. Soon thereafter he caught the bug. Acting. His talent and good looks got him a starring role in the Broadway production of 'Hair.' He also got the role of Peter in the film version of 'Jesus Christ Superstar' in 73', and not long after that he moved to Los Angeles to pursue his acting career even further. Paul got hooked up with the William Morris Agency and got parts in 'Police Story' and 'Mannix.' He got sick of the drama and backstabbing of the Hollywood scene. It wasnt until appearing in the play 'Beach Blanket Bingo' in 74' that Paul was introduced to porn moguels the Mitchell Brothers. He shot a couple loops for them and by 76' he was doing full-featured films 'The Autobiography of a Flea.' A porn star was born. Paul grew to enjoy the industry. He liked it because it wasnt as serious and backstabbing as his previous work. Year after year his reputation grew for being someone you could count on. He showed off his skills in a plethora of features such as 'Desires Within Young Girls,' 'Seven Into Snowy' and 'Candy Stripers 1.' He was more of a nice guy than a player so he formed pretty good relationships off screen with a lot of the women he worked with like Annette Haven, Veronica Hart and Christine Heller. Early 80's he was briefly married to Honey Wilder, but it didnt last long. In 1982 Paul spent a year in jail for smuggling cocaine into the United States. When he got out of prison, he jumped right back into hardcore porn. In 1988 he realized his opportunities as a performer were pretty limited so he decided to try directing/producing. The first feature he directed was called'RoboFox,' and he's been doing it ever since. Over the past decade or so he has become one of the largest directors in the industry. Some of his more popular flicks are 'Brat' series, 'Romeo and Juliet,' and 'The Masseuse.' Just a few awards include... AVN Best Director nods for his work on 1990's 'Beauty and the Beast,' 1993's 'Justine' and 1996's 'Bobby Sox.'. Paul is a member of the AVN and XRCO Halls of Fame.
